MONEY: A USER GUIDE
day4.htmlCalculate Current Income
The first step in putting together a sound financial plan is to assess your current situation - i.e., determine how much you earn and how much you spend.
To calculate earnings, I use an income table similar to the one below - a three-column table showing income Source, Amount, and Amt/Mo. Complete instructions for building a table you can actually use may be found at the link below the caveat.
| Source | Amount | Amt/Mo | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly | Bi-wkly | Monthly | ||
| Soc Sec | 1652.00 | 1,652.00 | ||
| Barney's | 100.00 | 434.82 | ||
| A/&/W | 180.00 | 391.40 | ||
| TOTAL | 2,478.22 | |||
I subdivide the Amount column into three sections: Weekly, Bi-Wkly, and Monthly, and let the table do the math.
People typically have multiple income sources and multiple pay periods. Adding these extra columns makes updating the information easier, and saves one the trouble of doing the math.
Caveat:
I aplogize for the primitive appearance of the example above. To date, I know only a little about web design. I am learning as I develop the site day-to-day.
Though instructions for building the Income table are posted, and I am in the process of formatting them - to make them more readable, they have not been tested in the state in which they appear on the site.
You are certainly welcome to view them. However, I would caution against attempting to build the table, as to do so may prove little more than an exercise in frustration. I do not want you to be discouraged and abandon the site.
Once the instructions have been thoroughly tested and found to be reliable, this caveat will disappear and I will proceed to the next phase of instruction.
Step-by-step instructions for building the Income table may be found here.
People wind up where they don't want to be
when they refuse to see where they're going.
